As far as Josh is concerned, Rain is guilty and got what she deserved, regardless of her side of the story. To make matters worse, a tropical storm sits in the Atlantic, threatening to wreak havoc on the small beach community.

Things slowly change as Rain begins to appreciate her surroundings through Josh's eyes, proving she is not the person he thinks she is. Their feelings for one another blossom as the tropical storm grows into a hurricane and bears down on Turtle Bay. With impending danger looming, the small beach community must come together in order to ride out the storm.

Opinião:

Este é um livro adequado para se passar algum tempo descontraído. É um daqueles romances fofinhos que apesar de não terem propriamente um desenvolvimento fantástico por algum motivo nos deixam satisfeitos no final da leitura.

Em Turtle Bay ficamos a conhecer Rain, uma rapariga que tem um apetite voraz por pregar partidas e que graças a essas ditas partidas se vê colocada em grandes sarilhos. É a partir daqui que a sua relação com Josh se começa a desenvolver. Tendo em conta que passam grande parte do tempo juntos por obrigação, acabam por perceber que na realidade aquilo que achavam um do outro não se coaduna com a realidade.

Confesso que achei um pouco disparatado o motivo da rebeldia de Rain. É sem dúvida um bocado infantil e mal pensado. Tendo em conta que ela parece ter uma relação tão aberta com os pais não compreendo porque é que nunca abordou a situação com eles. Porque é que foi necessário as coisas chegarem a determinado extremo para que tudo se resolvesse.

Claro que no meio disto tudo tinha que haver uma desgraça, que na realidade até foram duas. Não haja dúvida de que sentirmo-nos perdidos, desamparados e que ninguém sente a nossa falta é lenha para a fogueira da autodestruição. Claro que na maior parte das vezes essa autodestruição acaba por afectar aqueles à nossa volta e por vezes de modos irremediáveis.

Como disse ao início, este foi um livro fácil e simples de se ler e que foi de encontro à sua função.

Opinião:

Descobri este livro através das sugestões do Goodreads e a sinopse deixou-me de tal modo cativada que tinha que o ler o mais breve possível. Durante o tempo que estive à espera acho que deixei as minhas expectativas crescerem mais do que aquilo que devia, o que levou a que no final do livro me sentisse algo desiludida.

Gostei muito da personalidade da Kimberly, ou pelo menos a postura que esta adopta quando confrontada com o Mason. Bastante respondona e irónica. A maneira como ela lida com a animosidade mútua é bastante engraçada, ao mesmo tempo que tenta perceber porque raio o coração dela dá umas quantas cambalhotas sempre que pensa nele. Ao mesmo tempo achei que em certos aspectos a Kimberly era uma representação bastante fiel de uma rapariga de 18 anos, com as suas dúvidas e receio, e acredito que se me tivesse acontecido o mesmo que lhe aconteceu, descobrir que a mãe lhe mentiu durante 18 anos a minha atitude teria sido bastante semelhante.

Gostei bastante das personagens secundárias, o pai da Kimberly é fantástico e vê-se que gosta realmente dela e que a quer conhecer melhor. Ver a sua relação de pai e filha desenvolver-se foi simplesmente uma delícia. Já a Amy é uma rapariga cheia de energia e é impossível não nos sentirmos electrificados cada vez que ela entra em cena. Ao mesmo tempo achei intrigante a finalidade do parque Unlikely Allie, onde crianças que estão dentro do sistema de acolhimento vão passar as suas férias. São-nos apresentados alguns personagens com diferentes histórias, diferentes posturas. De alguns ficamos a conhecer um pouco da sua história e parte-me o coração pensar naquilo que lhes aconteceu, algo que acredito que seja real e que possa acontecer a qualquer criança.

Quanto ao Mason, vê-mos muito pouco dele na maior parte do livro. Talvez seja por isso que ele não me convenceu. De um momento para o outro ele e a Kimberly andam às cabeçadas para depois andarem aos beijos. Não é que tal não possa acontecer, e foi fácil perceber onde a autora queria chegar. Só achei que foi tudo muito repentino e que a autora não soube trabalhar os acontecimentos, nem justificar devidamente as acções de cada personagem. Isto foi o que menos gostei na história, a relação que a autora criou para a Kimberly e o Mason e a maneira como ela se desenvolveu. O mesmo aconteceu com a relação que o pai da Kimberly e a mãe acabam por desenvolver. Tudo bem que vários meses passaram entre os acontecimentos a que me refiro, mas não foi possível ao leitor seguir as mudanças. Num momento estava tudo errado e no outro tudo certo. Ao mesmo tempo não me parece credível que aquilo que separou pai e filha pudesse ser justificado tão facilmente.

Para finalizar não gostei do modo como a autora lidou com as adversidades que o Mason e a Kimberly tiveram que enfrentar. Não consigo acreditar que estando os dois no estado em que estavam fosse possível estarem os dois a pensar na sua relação e a pensar em andarem aos beijinhos. Ao menos a autora conseguiu surpreender-me com a decisão que tomou e que tornou o final de certo modo agridoce.

É um livro fácil de ler e agradável para se passar o tempo, mas sinceramente estava à espera de um pouco mais e sem dúvida que já li melhor dentro do género.
